100th Day Olympics

We celebrated our 100th day of school by having a 100 day Olympics.  We have been learning about the Olympics in social studies so the kids were really excited to have their own Olympics.  During the day we had different events that the children participated in and ended our day with a medal ceremony.

Each child received a country that they were representing for our Olympics.  We had a lot of fun finding them all on our globe.

Our first event was trying to come up with 100 unique ways to make 100.  We had everything from 99 + 1 to 9,000-8,000 - 900.  One of my favorite ways was 100 - 100 + 50 + 50.  All 100 ways are hanging in the hallway for you to see!

Our next event was seeing if we could read 100 books as a class during read to self time!

We made it to 138 books!  Great job readers!

One of our favorite events of the day was writing 100 words that we could read and spell correctly in our room!  We turned these words into fancy 100 days crowns.

To end our Olympics, we tried to see what we could do in 100 seconds.  We estimated and tried to see how many times we could hop, write our name, say the ABC's and many more activities in 100 seconds.

Congratulations 1st grade Olympians!
